Reality television shows are on the top of the hill nowadays. There are programmes for everyone, from Big Brother to Dances with Stars and from Customs to Safety Helicopter, just to name a few. Almost every show on television is a reality show and all those shows have viewers. Reality shows are popular and there is also a reason: it’s easier to identify to Mary Ordinary than the most perfect and beautiful Angelina Jolie, who is great everything she does.
Reality sows are based on people who are easy to relate to or whom you can laugh. Reality shows can also offer you something you couldn’t usually do or even try. Usually in reality shows they need to drop someone out in every episode, either whit audiences or judges vote. After the result is found out the one who is leaving bawls and needs to give up ones grand dream. Generally the leavers also swear that “You will hear about me. “
Many criticise reality shows because of the clichés in them. They say that the editor has done really good job, because there is also another path to walk to. Shows which tell about an employee or a place of work, like Police station, Tourist guides or Hospital, are really honest, and you cannot blame them from lack of realism. The ultimate thing in a show is to see who wins the grand price, which sounds great, but isn’t ever going to cover all the lost the person has caused to himself. There are also shows where people change their life only by participating.
In reality it’s important to show the relationships and social interaction, the way people can express them. It is delicious to watch how people form leagues and think how to make it till the very end without hurting anybody’s feelings so they get the grand price for themselves. This kind of shows it is easy to pick a favourite person to support.
Reality shows are popular because no-one can be hurt by watching them. It is pure entertainment and an easy solution for everyone. I enjoy watching reality shows, they are easy to watch and follow. Big Brother is maybe the only reality show I would never watch. Reality shows opens doors while closing some windows. Reality is easy entertainment for all the people. We will see what happens to the perfect Angelina Jolie when there is no market for her.

I am really honoured to be standing here. This is what I’ve been dreaming of since I was a little child. It is amazing to stand here and know how rocky the road is behind me.
I want to thank all the members of our cast; you were always there for me. Special thanks to the director, you were marvellous, and I am a better actor after being in a film you directed. Thanks to the special effects group, I would be nothing without you, you really made the movie. And of course it was easy to fall to Robert Pattinson’s arms, thanks to you I didn’t fall down.
I will thank my parents who were standing by my side all the time. I need to thank my little sister who taught me how to be you no matter what others think. Thanks to my dog Marley, who made me take him out even when it was raining.
I also want to thank all of my fans who have been so positive and supportive on this project. Thanks also to those who have hated me since the beginning, you have taught me to be proud of who I am and where I come from. The culture I’d like to live in is American culture. I don’t know precisely why, but I believe it’s because of the way American people express themselves. Even the way people talk to each other is different. People are open and loud but I think it’s just a part of culture. In Finland there is this great silence almost everywhere you go, so I love that Americans make a fuss of everything. It feels like people care each other more there than they do here.
The culture in America is so different than in Europe. Everything is big and grand and no-one is ashamed of it, people are proud of themselves and their own way of living and doing things. The cities are huge and the apartments rise to the sky like mountains while people walk down the street like ants. I think that everyone there is a hero of own life. Everyone is a part of the great American dream, which makes everyone special and unique, which is crucial to everyone. Americans love their country and it shows; they sing their national anthem a lot more often than for instance Finnish people do. They also have some holidays we don’t have, like Thanksgiving, which make families and also the nation come together.
People in the USA are more impulsive and it is really inspiring. America has always been a place to make your dreams come true and a song also says that: if you can make it there you can make it anywhere. That is the point of being American; a need to show others that you will survive. The most important thing is to go for your dreams and simply try; it doesn’t matter if you don’t succeed because you have your family and friends to take care of you.
